The Story of DMACtripsFounded in 1992, DMAC Trips, LLC began as a response to the travel boom of the early 1990s—especially among students and adults in the South Jersey and Greater Philadelphia region. Originally launched under a different name, the company was born out of founder Donald Casolaro’s frustration with the rigid, impersonal approach of large travel providers. His goal was simple: to create a travel program that puts the traveler’s experience first.
As digital technology transformed the industry, DMAC Trips grew steadily throughout the following decade. When asked why his boutique travel company continued to thrive while others came and went, Mr. Casolaro explained: “It comes down to the care we take in planning each trip and the freedom we give our travelers once we arrive. You can join the group for activities—or skip them entirely. We don’t wake you at six in the morning to wait in long lines. We don’t drag you to tourist-trap restaurants with bland menus. And we don’t march you endlessly through crowded city streets. Donald Casolaro - Founder & Trips Coordinator
With over 40 years in secondary Catholic education across Philadelphia and South Jersey, Donald Casolaro is a veteran educator and world traveler. Since founding DMAC Trips in 1992, he has averaged five international trips a year—earning a reputation for thoughtful, flexible travel experiences that prioritize comfort and cultural immersion. Known affectionately by many nicknames ("the Don", "Cass", "Cheech"), he has designed and led hundreds of trips, always with a teacher’s care and a traveler’s heart.
Brendan Towell - Associate Trips Coordinator & Website Maintenance
A seasoned Catholic educator, writer, and speaker, Brendan Towell brings nearly two decades of experience in teaching, school leadership, and pilgrimage planning. As co-organizer of DMAC Trips, Brendan blends theological insight, attention to detail, and infectious enthusiasm to create travel experiences that are both fun and formative. A passionate advocate for wonder-filled education, Brendan believes travel should renew our sense of beauty, community, and purpose. Brendan's personal website is www.BrendanTowell.com.
Marc Varalli - Team Member & Social Media Influencer With over 30 years in both Catholic and public school education, Marc Varalli brings a unique blend of structure, flexibility, and energy to the DMAC team. An accomplished soccer coach and long-time friend & colleague of Donald, Marc has been involved with DMAC Trips since the late 1990s. His ability to lead with humor, connect with students and families, and bring a sense of clam to complex itineraries makes him a trusted presence on any trip.
Sandra "Sandy" Del Giorno - Excursion Coordinator & Licensed Travel Agent (Independent Partner)
Sandy DelGiorgno is a trusted and experienced travel professional who works closely with DMAC Trips as an independent partner. As a licensed travel agent and excursion coordinator, she brings exceptional organizational skill and a deep understanding of what makes travel smooth and enjoyable. While not officially on staff, Sandy is a respected collaborator whose services we gladly recommend. She often accompanies DMAC groups on international trips, in addition to managing her own travel clientele, making her a familiar and welcome presence for many of our travelers.
